A bit of History

Senor De Los Milagros is Jesus Christ in the Catholic Religion. The English translation of Señor De Los Milagros is Lord of Miracles. He is seen as very miraculous in the country of Peru.

Before continuing to discuss the history or background behind the name Señor De Los Milagros I would like to first state that none of our missions in this nonprofit will be to convert or change the religious beliefs of anyone. Our creed as indicated in every page of this website is to affect the entire world by helping as much people as possible, and to show love and care for others, and spread this sentiment around the world, hopefully influencing others to do the same or more. We hope to help as many people as possible, but understand that we are very small and have to start with small missions. We currently have limited resources and so we ask for your donations to help us help as many people as possible. The more money/donations we get, the more we can help!

Now that the above is out of the way, I will explain about the history for informational purposes only. This history explained below is for those curious about the history, and for those asking where does the name come from. Also, for those asking how come you named your nonprofit Senor De Los Milagros? The following will answer these questions.

Christ of Miracles is another translation to English of Señor De Los Milagros. In Lima, Peru there is an image of Jesus Christ that was painted during the 17th century by Benito or Pedro Dalcon who was an African taken as a slave to Peru from what is now Angola. Señor De Los Milagros also has another name in Peru, which is Cristo Moreno, and the translation of that is The Black Christ. The reason for this is that in Peru many who follow Señor De Los Milagros are black Peruvians or of dark/colored skin.

The story said is that Mr. Dalcon painted the work of art in 1651. The images of God, Mary Magdalene, and Virgin Mary were all added afterwards. Many earthquakes occurred in Lima, Peru after it was painted, but the image never broke or got damaged. Even if terrible Earthquakes that have destroyed much of the country came, the image of Señor De Los Milagros never broke or got damaged from the disasters. Due to this, many people prayed to Jesus on front of the image, feeling the image had been touched by God.

Many Peruvians have reported to have felt many miracles happen to them after praying to Jesus on front of this image. The people of Peru, will once a year take a replica of the image out of the church and parade it around the neighborhood to allow many to pray together at the same time. Many people have reported to have also experienced miracles just by touching the pedestal of where Señor De Los Milagros is, even though it is a replica.

One of the reasons why this nonprofit was called Señor De Los Milagros was, because the founder firmly believes that miracles can be real under the name of Jesus Christ. Believing that a miracle will happen, but also doing something about bringing that miracle to life is a great combination. The founder believes that God’s love can be spread around the world to whoever needs it, without any religious, political, or beliefs requirements.

The act of helping people itself is an act of God, and an act of love. As Mother Theresa said, “Where There Is Love, There Is God: A Path to Closer Union with God and Greater Love for Others”, and ““I see Jesus in every human being. I say to myself, this is hungry Jesus, I must feed him. This is sick Jesus. This one has leprosy or gangrene; I must wash him and tend to him. I serve because I love Jesus”. Mother Theresa saw Jesus in every human being, specially those suffering. She did many helping missions of which is a great inspiration to this nonprofit. In our seek to help, we also seek to be closer to Jesus and love God more. By helping humanity, we also help ourselves be closer to Jesus and God. So, thank you all for allowing us to help you, this also helps us greatly in our spiritual need!

Jesus Christ said, “for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took me in, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you visited me”, and “truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40, 45, NIV). Jesus also said, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh”. This to us means, that God gives us hope that suffering will end in the future and is not meant to be forever.

The founder believes that Jesus Christ came to this world to spread love, kindness, forgiveness, and care. This nonprofit under the name of Señor De Los Milagros hopes to spread this love, and continue with the missions of his disciples via one small mission at a time, which is to continue spreading love, care, kindness, forgiveness around the world. Thank you for reading this and we wish you well!
